Just to let you know, I’ll be reading with several amazing writers whose work is featured in Best Small Fictions 2023 tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time U.S. I’ll be reading my story, “Chicago,” which was originally published in Wigleaf. Other readers include: Sara Hills, Tommy Dean, Sarah Freligh, Francine Witte, Patricia Q. Bidar, Electra Rhodes, Melissa Llanes Brownlee, Sara Siddiqui Chansarkar, Sean Ennis, and C.J. Erick. Myna Chang is hosting this event via her Drop the Mic(ro) reading series.
FYI: Apparently registrations for this have very nearly reached the limit of 100 attendees! So apologies if you go to sign up and it's already full! I look forward to seeing you tomorrow, thanks!
I have a new list of writers I had previously not known about, which is always a great thing. I often miss a lot while listening instead of reading (and rereading), but I noticed some impressive wordplay, and great metaphors. (‘Chambers of the heart’ will stick with me for a while.) (And the fish story, whoa! Must get the book!)
Darn, Kathy, I missed this but read ‘Chicago’ on Wigleaf’s site. W.o.w. My printer’s busted so I hand wrote the story out on lined paper, my three Golden’s sleeping at my feet, my gardener with his pink braces smiling in at me, not dressed, writing away! Happy week-end. May the greatness of this story come into me as I try to finish my story KissKill for an April 30th deadline.
No worries, Mary! I appreciate you finding the story and reading it. This made me laugh out loud:

Thanks, Kathy. ‘Chicago’ is brilliant. That first line. I’m so jealous. I love all the details and how they tie the story together perfectly. I’m working on a story I workshopped with you called ‘Telescoping’. Your story really helped me see gaps in my story that needed to be filled in. Happy week-end..xo
Thanks so much, Mary! What I do love about this story is that it had been idling away in my documents folder for a very long time. I had kind of given up on it. Then the editor of Wigleaf said on twitter that the submission window was closing at midnight and I decided to go for it and polish the story up. I think I submitted it with about an hour to spare! I was so happy when it was accepted!

Aw, I'm so sorry, Lana! These things almost never "sell out." Appreciate you getting the anthology though. It's really good if I do say so myself. : )
