I recently read The Black City by Leonardo Alishan and Justice--A Beginning by Grace Paley, both in the book Flash Fiction Forward. They reminded me in very different ways of what I want my writing to be and feel like.

The Black City has an Italo Calvino feel with another element entirely it's own, very haunting (in a resonant way) and beautiful.
