Hi friends and happy Monday,
First, a reminder that my newest round of live 3-in-90 workshops begins THIS SATURDAY, May 11th, and there are some spaces still available. Your best deal is to sign up for all three (and they are designed to work together, though it’s fine, too, to just sign up for one or two). All sessions are recorded and there are folks who love the recorded classes as they prefer to go through the materials and exercises on their own time.
More information and sign up HERE! I’d love for you to join us!
I’m excited because I have begun two things:
I’m writing every weekday morning in May with Writing Co-Lab’s West Coast Ungodly Hour Writing Club. This is donation based and very low key. The idea is just to show up and be accountable and for me, it’s working! I know, no matter how busy my day gets, I’ve given myself that one hour to focus on my own work.
And tonight, I begin another Gut Real workshop (also through Writing Co-Lab) with Sara Lippmann. Sara is one of those teachers who inspires you just by her presence; her warmth, intelligence, humor, and empathy. She makes writers feel, not judged, but encouraged. I love the experimental approach she’s taken to the workshop model and made something that 100% works for me. You can find out more of what Writing Co-Lab offers HERE.
And yesterday, I received my first acceptance for my first submission of 2024! I’m very happy and relieved. The story comes out in July.
I want to address creative openness today, Your exercise below involves a week long quest towards building a cathedral to your creativity. I read something recently that made me love James Dean about whom I’d previously held no opinion:
